Love Is For Ever
I woke up last Sunday morning, July 6th, to find out my usual gig had been cancelled.
The day before I was talking about the floods with my friend from Kerville and it had put me at a complete loss for words and feelings of extreme sadness and helplessness.
With my day now opened up, I felt I needed to try and sit down and attempt to take stock of my overwhelming thoughts and feelings and write a song.
I sent the first draft to my Brother, keyboard player and producer, Randy Caballero.
He said he was hearing some things, which I took as a good sign.
The next day we just happened to be at 512 Studios and, because of Randy's initial positive response to the song, I decided to share it with Rich Baur, chief engineer at 512 and a drummer and Omar Vallejo, owner of 512 and a bassist. They both also had positive responses and Omar, extremely generously, donated studio time Wednesday afternoon as all of us that were present already constituted 4 members of a band. We quickly got in touch with Joe With The Notes to play guitar and Alex Geismar for percussion.
The story of Love Is For Ever, is 6 Austin musicians trying to channel our feelings of profound sorrow and despair into something positive and healing not only for ourselves, but way more importantly, for those most severely affected by the devastating floods. We hope and pray, through our efforts, we might be able to at least assuage some of the impossible hardships our neighbors now find themselves in.
Our tremendous thanks to Johnny Ramirez & the Pool House Studios team for including us in this project and for all his help in bringing light and love to those going through the darkest of times.
